Energy Efficient Windows & Doors

ENERGY EFFICIENT windows and door can save 30% on energy bills.  The State of California’s Green Construction website offers outstanding tips and materials information, in addition to rebates and credits.  I like rebates and credits as it promotes green building products.  More are needed, especially at the federal level.

I installed dual pane windows and doors in my home myself.  It is extremely easy to install windows and doors if you even a little bit handy.  With some instruction, almost anyone can do it.  The total cost for seven Millguard windows, two sliding glass doors, and two entry door was $4500.  Not only do they make the house quieter by almost eliminating exterior noise, but save approximately $640 per year in utility costs.

Anyone interested in simple ordering and installation instructions please email me.

2008 Likely To Be A Cold/Warm Year

SCIENCE DAILY reports that 2008 will be a cold year, but part of global warming. Is this confusing? At least I know my home, located 12′ above sea level, will not be inundated with sea water this year. When do we start building dikes to protect all the homes and businesses along the California coast? According to wikipedia sea levels are rising 2- 4mm/yr, or less than 3/8″ a year. No worries! I have 480 years at minimum until it gets to my house.
